And yet in 2025, decades of chronic underfunding and a systemic bias in the medical system toward women’s reproductive health, has meant that this disease – which affects millions around the world – and the women diagnosed, continue to be ignored and dismissed. Over 75% women are diagnosed in the late stages, when it’s often too late. Tragically, this means too many women don’t survive to advocate for this disease themselves.
